About The Position

Dog Tag seeks a highly motivated, detail-oriented Marketing Assistant to support the development and implementation of marketing activities across all areas of the organization, including our social enterprise bakery, fellowship program, fundraising efforts, and general brand awareness. This position will report to the Director of Communications and play a critical role in ensuring consistent messaging and strong visibility across all channels. The ideal candidate will have prior experience with a wide range of communications and marketing functions, including social media, branding, website management, digital marketing, CRMs, Salesforce email marketing, and creative strategy. The marketing assistant must be an organized multitasker able to handle multiple projects at once and meet tight deadlines.

Requirements

  • 1–3 years of marketing, communications, or related experience (internships welcome).
  • Knowledge of traditional and digital marketing, email and content marketing, and social media ad platforms required.
  • Excellent writing, communication, and presentation skills.
  • Proficiency in full Microsoft Office 365 and Salesforce required (Salesforce Marketing Cloud / Account Engagement).
  • Experience editing and managing websites.
  • Familiarity with content management systems (CMS) and customer relationship management (CRM) tools.
  • Works well both independently and collaboratively with teams.
  • Comfortable engaging with external stakeholders.
  • Passion for mission-driven work and interest in supporting multiple areas of a growing nonprofit.

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor’s degree in marketing, journalism, advertising, media, or communications preferred.
  • Experience working with Hootsuite and Canva preferred.
  • Familiarity with basic video editing preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in executing marketing and communication plans for Dog Tag Bakery in Georgetown, Dog Tag Fellowship Program, and the fundraising department (estimated average time distribution at 50/30/20, respectively).
  • Create and distribute marketing materials, including flyers, emails, newsletters, and social media content.
  • Create, proofread, and edit copy for various marketing channels, ensuring consistent voice and accuracy.
  • Support the creation and maintenance of a content calendar across platforms (social media, email, website).
  • Maintain brand consistency across all visual and written communications.
  • Work with Director of Communications on new ideas to optimize the marketing plan and strategy for the overall organization.
  • Set up and monitor triggered Salesforce email campaigns for key touchpoints such as new customer welcome series, fellowship program updates, and donor stewardship communications.
  • Draft and schedule social media content that promotes our bakery products, programs, events, and nonprofit mission.
  • Photography and videography.
  • Assist with photo and video editing for content creation, as needed.
  • Monitor engagement metrics and report performance trends.
  • Help manage email marketing campaigns and newsletters.
  • Support website updates, including copywriting, content refreshes, and light graphic edits.
  • Partner with bakery, program, and development teams to understand key initiatives and translate them into compelling marketing content.
  • Coordinate photography, videography, and graphic design needs for product and menu launches, events, etc.
  • Assist with event marketing logistics and promotion (e.g., graduation ceremonies, fundraising, and volunteering events).
  • Assist in creating and maintaining marketing SOPs in collboration with other departments.
  • Collaborate with development, programs, and bakery teams to create automated stakeholder engagement sequences and track campaign performance metrics.
  • Help prepare marketing reports and metrics for measuring success and reporting to internal and external partners.
  • Track marketing expenses and coordinate invoice processing with the finance team.
  • Organize and archive digital marketing assets.
