About The Position

Options For All (OFA) is seeking a Social Media and Storytelling Intern to help capture and share the real stories of our people and our impact. This role will be responsible for gathering photo and video content in the field, conducting informal interviews with employees and adults with disabilities we support (with appropriate consent), and packaging that content into high-quality social media posts. A core focus of this internship is strengthening the professional presence of OFA’s Executive Leadership Team (Leadership Team) on social media. You will help develop consistent, values-aligned branding for individual leaders and for OFA, while ensuring our content is respectful, accurate, and aligned with OFA’s mission and voice. This role will also support external-facing storytelling by creating posts that highlight Leadership Team members and OFA’s engagement with employers, community partners, community leaders, advocacy partners, and other organizations that help bring our mission to life. This internship will be starting on June 1, 2026 and ending on August 7, 2026. This role requires intern to work 100% onsite in our San Diego HQ. Housing assistance and stipends are not provided.

Requirements

  • Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation.
  • Must pass a background check.
  • Current student or recent graduate in Communications, Marketing, Journalism, Film/Media, Public Relations, Human Services, or a related field (or equivalent portfolio experience).
  • Minimum 3.0 GPA
  • Familiarity with social media platforms and analytics tools (e.g., Meta Business Suite, Instagram Insights).
  • Comfort approaching people with warmth and professionalism to gather stories and quotes.
  • Strong command of photo/video capture skills using a smartphone (composition, lighting, clear audio).
  • Strong writing skills, with the ability to create concise, compelling social captions.
  • Demonstrated ability with editing skills (e.g., Canva or similar tools).
  • High judgment with confidentiality and professionalism, especially when capturing content in the field.
  • This position requires the employee to regularly stand, walk, sit, talk and hear.
  • They must be capable of writing, using a computer keyboard, telephone and related office equipment.
  • Ability to lift 15lbs.

Responsibilities

  • Create success through A steady pipeline of usable, high-quality field content (photos, short videos, quotes) that reflects OFA’s mission and values.
  • Consistent, professional, people-centered social posts drafted for Leadership Team members that strengthen their presence and credibility.
  • Regular partner and employer spotlight content that elevates OFA’s relationships and shared impact with the community.
  • Clear organization of content assets and documentation so content is easy to find, reuse, and publish.
  • Stories that are consent-based, respectful, and represent the people we support with dignity.
  • Field content capture and storytelling Visit OFA programs and community locations to capture photos and short-form video (phone-based is acceptable if quality is strong).
  • Capture “day-in-the-life” moments that reflect our mission in action: staff support, community engagement, employment services, milestones, and everyday wins.
  • Gather quotes and context to ensure stories are told accurately and respectfully.
  • Informal interviews (employees and clients) Conduct brief, informal interviews with employees and, when appropriate and authorized, adults with disabilities supported by OFA and/or members of their support network.
  • Use a simple interview guide to capture authentic stories, lessons learned, and mission moments.
  • Follow OFA protocols for consent, confidentiality, and respectful representation.
  • Executive social content and brand support Draft social posts for Leadership Team members (LinkedIn-first, with optional adaptation for other channels).
  • Help create distinct, consistent “executive brand” themes (thought leadership topics, tone, visual style, recurring series).
  • Turn field stories into leadership content that highlights culture, mission, community partnerships, and outcomes using clear, people-centered language.
  • Employer and community partnership spotlight content Create posts highlighting Leadership Team members’ engagement with employers, community partners, and advocacy and service organizations.
  • Capture and package content from partner visits, employer tours, hiring collaborations, events, speaking engagements, roundtables, and community celebrations.
  • Develop “partner spotlight” post formats that elevate mutual impact, shared values, and real outcomes (for example, inclusive hiring wins, community integration moments, collaborative events).
  • Content editing and publishing support Edit and package content into ready-to-post formats (captions, images, short clips, carousels).
  • Maintain a lightweight content library (organized folders, naming conventions, consent documentation).
  • Track content performance at a basic level (reach, engagement) and share learnings with the supervisor.
  • Collaboration and coordination Coordinate with program leaders and partner-facing staff to schedule visits and identify story opportunities.
  • Work with HR/Employee Experience and Operations partners to ensure stories are timely, appropriate, and aligned with internal priorities.
  • Participate in check-ins with the supervisor and occasional working sessions with Leadership Team members.
