About The Position

The Marketing and External Communications Leader is a strategic leader responsible for shaping and executing the enterprise-wide marketing and external communications strategy. This role oversees brand management, events, campaigns, CRM governance, marketing operations, and external communications to drive business growth and enhance client experience. The director will lead a high-performing team and collaborate closely with executive leadership, operations leadership, business development, sales enablement, and internal communications to ensure alignment with organizational goals.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Communications, Business, or related field.
  • 12+ years of progressive leadership experience in marketing and external communications, with at least 5 years in a senior management role.
  • Proven ability to lead integrated marketing and communications functions.
  • Strong strategic thinking, executive presence, and cross-functional collaboration.
  • Expertise in brand management, campaign strategy, and digital marketing.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and lead through change.

Nice To Haves

  • Master’s degree in Marketing, Communications, or Business.
  • Experience with CRM systems and governance (e.g., Salesforce).
  • Experience in professional services, architecture/engineering, or consulting industries.
  • Familiarity with marketing automation platforms (e.g., Mailchimp, Ceros).
  • Certification in change management or communications (e.g., Prosci, IABC).

Responsibilities

  • Lead enterprise-wide marketing strategy, including campaign development, market-specific planning, and execution to drive sales and brand visibility.
  • Oversee external communications aligned with market, client, industry, and thought leadership.
  • Manage brand development and governance, including visual identity, brand templates, and enterprise brand campaigns.
  • Guide digital marketing efforts, including website content, social media strategy, marketing automation, and analytics.
  • Oversee marketing operations including collateral creation, asset management, advertising, and national sponsorships.
  • Support client experience initiatives through external communications, feedback coordination, and reputation management.
  • Lead creative services including graphics, photography, video, and visualization to support marketing and thought leadership.
  • Manage external events and conferences strategy, including sponsorships, attendance planning, and association engagement.
  • Partner with CRM and data teams to integrate marketing content and campaigns, and lead market research to inform strategy and optimize engagement.
  • Collaborate with sales enablement, market leads, and operations to align marketing efforts with growth strategies and client needs.
