About The Position

General Seeking to fill one (1) position as a Marketing and Communication Student Assistant (Open to work study and non-work study) with our program. The student selected to fill the position will be required to work onsite during normal business hours of Monday through Friday, 8am to 5pm in the Student Services Building. There may be occasional work after hours as needed for special events. Work-Study Job Information Supervisor: Kirsten Handler Location: Student Services Building (100 W Dean Keeton St, Austin, TX 78712) Pay: $12.00 per hour About the Departments Disability and Access determines eligibility and helps implement reasonable accommodations for disabled students. The Disability Cultural Center is a hub for disability community, education and advocacy for disabled students, faculty, staff, alumni and all members of the University community. Longhorn TIES Neurodivergence support enhances the student experience for those who identify as neurodivergent (autism, ADHD, etc.) through self-advocacy, connections and training.

Requirements

  • Previous experience in marketing and communications
  • Some knowledge of social media management, including following a content calendar and tracking analytics
  • Ability to recognize and keep up with social media trends and adapt them to fit the needs of Disability and Access, the Disability Cultural Center and Longhorn TIES.
  • Comfortable being on camera to create engaging and informative content
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office and previous experience with using Box, Monday.com, Canva, CapCut, Adobe Suite and other software programs

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with the communications coordinator on the following tasks in support of marketing and communications for Disability and Access, the Disability Cultural Center and Longhorn TIES.
  • Create social media content including captions, graphics, video reels and photography.
  • Identify current social media trends and generate fresh content ideas to boost audience engagement.
  • Collect and organize content for audience-specific newsletters.
  • Represent Disability and Access, the Disability Cultural Center and Longhorn TIES at on-campus events to collect quotes and pictures for marketing and communication purposes; must be comfortable engaging with students, faculty and staff.
  • Other duties as assigned by the supervisor
