About The Position

The Marketing and Communications Intern supports SRT’s outreach and storytelling efforts by assisting with digital communications, events, and content creation. This position is ideal for a student or emerging professional with a knack for communication and media, eager to gain hands-on experience in nonprofit communications, marketing, and environmental storytelling. The intern will assist in planning and executing events with local & federal elected officials and advocate for policies through the Trust's media channels. The intern will work closely with and report to the Communications Manager to promote SRT’s mission, events, and impact through engaging media and community outreach. And will be a member of the Investments & Partnerships team, Professionals who share the mission of SRT widely while building deep relationships with constituents.

Requirements

  • Current college student or recent graduate in communications, marketing, humanics, journalism, environmental studies, public policy, or a related field.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Familiarity with social media platforms and basic design tools (Canva, Adobe, etc.).
  • Interest in conservation, environmental education, policy, or nonprofit work.
  • Organized, reliable, and able to work independently on projects.

Nice To Haves

  • Photography, videography, or graphic design skills are a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in creating and scheduling posts for SRT’s social media platforms (Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn, etc.).
  • Support the development of digital ad campaigns and short-form videos.
  • Help track engagement metrics and suggest content improvements.
  • Draft blog posts, donor stories, event recaps, and newsletter content.
  • Assist in editing and formatting written materials for online and print publication.
  • Create simple graphics, flyers, and promotional materials using Canva or Adobe Creative Suite.
  • Organize and maintain the digital photo/video library.
  • Support event promotion and day-of coordination (e.g., community events, tabling, volunteer days).
  • Help capture photo/video content during events.
  • Assist with website updates and data entry related to communications efforts.
  • Conduct light research on media outlets, community partners, or trends in conservation marketing.
