About The Position

We are working on behalf of an Am Law 20 firm to recruit a Business Development and Marketing Manager for the firm’s Washington, D.C. office. Reporting to the Director of Marketing, this role will collaborate closely with the Events and Communications teams to lead a broad range of marketing, business development, and strategic communications initiatives. The Manager will play a key role in strengthening the firm’s brand presence and increasing its visibility across the Washington, D.C. metropolitan region as well as working with the key practices in the region.

Requirements

  • Educational Background: Bachelor’s degree in marketing, business, communications or related field required.
  • Experience: A minimum of 7 years of experience in business development or marketing within a law firm or other professional services setting.
  • Proactive team player with a client-focused mindset, strong written and verbal communication skills, exceptional attention to detail, and the ability to thrive under pressure while balancing competing priorities in a fast-growth environment.

Responsibilities

  • Client Engagement: Build and maintain strong relationships with attorneys and managers to advance marketing and business development initiatives. Partner with external organizations to lead efforts that strengthen client relationships and enhance the firm’s brand visibility across the region.
  • Project and Content Management: Oversee media opportunities and nominations, directory submissions, marketing and conference materials, and event sponsorships to increase the firm’s visibility and influence.
  • Proposal Management: Lead proposal strategy and client engagement initiatives by overseeing RFP responses, market research
  • Strategic Marketing and Business Development: Partner with attorneys, practice leaders, and marketing professionals to develop up-to-date and accurate marketing materials – including biographies, practice area descriptions, press releases, and website content - support new attorney onboarding, and drive strategic business development initiatives including working with local community and professional organizations.
  • Cross-team Collaboration: Work in tandem with Event and Communications leads to ensure initiatives are aligned with overall brand and business development goals.
