Requirements

  • Registered Nurse (RN) license.
  • Experience in trauma program management.
  • Knowledge of state and national trauma requirements.
  • Strong leadership and communication skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with multiple facilities.

Nice To Haves

  • Certification in trauma nursing.
  • Experience with performance improvement initiatives.
  • Familiarity with trauma registries and data management.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as the designated trauma system resource across the market, coordinating efforts to align facility-level programs with current Texas Department of State Health Services (DSHS) and ACS-COT standards.
  • Provide leadership in trauma quality improvement initiatives and assist facilities with trauma PIPS (Performance Improvement and Patient Safety) processes, audits, case reviews, and tracking of action plans.
  • Facilitate data integrity across trauma registries and ensure alignment with NTDB inclusion criteria and state reporting requirements.
  • Support the development and standardization of trauma policies, protocols, and education programs throughout the market.
  • Work collaboratively with TPMs at each facility to support their role in monitoring trauma care across the continuum, from pre-hospital to post-discharge.
  • Coordinate trauma training initiatives and ensure compliance with training requirements, including TNCC or ATCN, ENPC or PALS, ACLS, and trauma performance improvement coursework.
  • Participate as a trauma leader in community outreach, regional advisory council activities, and emergency preparedness initiatives.
  • Monitor TPM hours at each facility and support each site in meeting staffing and trauma readiness requirements.
  • Participate on nurse staffing committees as required by TAC 157.126.
  • Serve as a clinical consultant and mentor to hospital trauma leadership within the market.
