DNV Energy System’s North America group is seeking a Senior Energy Market Transformation Consultant to join our Markets team. As part of a growing and agile business, our Markets team is looking for a consultant with a broad range of project management, strategic planning, and market research experience to lead and coordinate related tasks and projects. In this role, you will be joining a high-performing team of socioeconomic research and technical specialists committed to helping clients navigate the energy transition. You will serve as a subject matter expert, project manager, or key contributor on studies that monitor and measure the effect that program interventions have or can have on the market as well as market research to support the development of markets or technologies that advance the energy transition. This includes a mix of market characterization/transformation studies, process evaluations, net-to-gross and non-energy impact research. This role will also lead and contribute to proactive business development and proposal creation. This is an exciting opportunity for someone with client-facing experience in energy, climate change, and/or risk assurance that is seeking a role that involves strategic, big picture thinking, collaboration, and an interdisciplinary approach to solving complex challenges. This role is based in any of DNV’s continental U.S. offices, presenting a hybrid schedule where employees will typically spend three (3) days per week working from a DNV office. Preferred office locations include North Andover or Medford, MA; Portland, ME; New York, NY; Arlington, VA; Madison, WI; Oakland, CA; and Portland, OR. Other office locations may be considered.

  • Supporting project-based teams in the delivery of studies and analyses by acting as a leader and subject matter expert.
  • Provide insights and lead and/or support research and analyses focused on addressing the energy transition including evaluation of market transformation programs and program designs.
  • Ensure all work products are high quality, effective, timely, and accessible to diverse stakeholder groups.
  • Identify opportunities for adding value and develop innovative approaches to address the changing energy landscape.
  • Mentor and coach junior staff on market research best practices.
  • Interpret customers’ problems to be solved and questions to be addressed and convert into value-added opportunities.
  • Operate with a teamwork mentality that leads to building and maintaining interpersonal relationships.
  • Broad range of project management experience.
  • Experience in strategic planning and market research.
  • Client-facing experience in energy, climate change, and/or risk assurance.
  • Ability to think strategically and holistically about the future of energy.
  • Experience in socio-economic evaluation methods and frameworks.
