About The Position

Argus is seeking a Senior Reporter to join our US Natural Gas and Power Team on the North American power beat in Houston or New York City, working with and closely supporting team editors. The ideal candidate is curious, passionate, personable, able to quickly become a subject matter expert and lead coverage chasing news related to power markets, weighted towards emerging consumption markets such as datacenters, cryptocurrency mining, electric vehicle charging infrastructure and other areas where electrification is taking hold. This job will require a collaborative approach, working in tandem with reporters on other teams. The role requires daily reporting on power markets and demand centers, keeping readers abreast of new projects and trends regarding the electrification of the North American economy. The build-out of artificial intelligence infrastructure has become one of the most dynamic stories in US power markets, and this reporter will have a front-row seat to see how the market adjusts to these evolving power supply and demand fundamentals. The role will also require cross-training as a backup reporter on natural gas markets, which are heavily integrated into the power market. The reporter in this role needs to develop a general understanding of power markets and how they integrate with both generation fuels such as natural gas, coal, nuclear and renewables, as well as demand markets. You do not need prior experience in commodities markets. Intelligence, curiosity, writing ability and a real desire to become a journalist are the primary qualities we look for in a very diverse pool of candidates.
