About The Position

CME Group (CME) is recruiting for a summer 2026 intern to support the Investigations team in the Market Regulation Department (MR). MR is responsible, in part, for satisfying statutory and regulatory provisions associated with operating designated contract markets. To safeguard CME markets from abuse, the Investigations team within MR ensures compliance with CME exchange rules by monitoring CME markets for evidence of prohibited activity and conducting trade practice investigations. The successful candidate will have the opportunity to deepen their industry knowledge and hone their investigative skills by working alongside best-in-class regulatory professionals.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree candidate in good standing at an accredited institution (n.b., Bachelor’s degree candidates must be rising Seniors).
  • Knowledge of derivatives preferred.
  • Desire to learn essential.
  • Strong to exceptional analytical, quantitative, and critical thinking skills.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills.
  • Strong organizational, time management, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work both collaboratively and independently in a fast-paced environment.
  • Capable of applying existing Microsoft Office Excel skills to manage large data sets.
  • Available for Summer 2026 40 hours/week

Responsibilities

  • Contribute to a research project of topical interest to the Investigations management team.
  • Participate in planning sessions and status meetings.
  • Assist with drafting a project charter.
  • Perform research, analyze data, and document findings.
  • Leverage Gemini to deliver a capstone presentation to the Investigations management team.
  • Support the day-to-day activities of the Investigations team as needed.
