Requirements

  • Applicants should have a high school diploma or equivalent.
  • Licenses: Must be registered with the state Board of Pharmacy in good standing
  • Must have Certified Pharmacy Technician (CPhT) status obtained from PTCB
  • Must either obtain an additional PTCB certification OR complete any 2 PTCB certificate programs within 3 months of hire

Responsibilities

  • Assists with filling, processing, and dispensing of medications.
  • Compounds sterile and non-sterile products
  • Evaluates applicants for open positions and actively participates in hiring process
  • Coordinates the orientation and training of new pharmacy technicians, including development of training and evaluation resources.
  • Maintains drug inventory, including supervision of purchasing, returns, backorders, recalls, shortages, and loans/borrows.
  • Contributes to development of pharmacy policies and procedures governing technician practice and drug distribution
  • Serves as a communication liaison between the director of pharmacy and pharmacy technicians, and works effectively and independently as pharmacy leadership.
  • Creates pharmacy technician work schedule
  • Maintains compliance with applicable regulatory standards, including USP 797, Board of Pharmacy regulations, etc.
  • Assists the director of pharmacy in management of revenue integrity, including charge capture and claims review
  • Oversees maintenance of automated dispensing cabinets, including stocking, restocking, destocking, medication bar code scanning, and par level adjustments.
  • Monitors medication activity for potential drug diversion and reports discrepancies to the pharmacist or pharmacy leadership
  • Achieves and maintains satisfactory working relationships with pharmacy leadership, pharmacy staff, and other departments.
