About The Position
The Market of Choice Cheese Shops are a high-energy, team-oriented environment that create an inviting in-store experience with friendly, knowledgeable, and customer service-oriented Cheese Stewards. This position is ideal for individuals who are passionate about food and eager to learn about how various foods are created and brought to market. As a Cheese Steward, you will work with a diverse selection of cheeses, charcuterie, and accompaniments sourced from Oregon and around the world. The role offers a starting pay of $15/hour, with potential growth up to $19/hour based on experience. Market of Choice is a family-owned, local company that values its employees and provides excellent benefits along with opportunities for professional development. In this role, you will be responsible for creating a pleasant in-store atmosphere and providing knowledgeable and friendly customer service. You will assist customers in selecting and recommending products for everyday dining as well as special events. A strong understanding of food trends, particularly in artisan cheeses and specialty accompaniments, is essential. You will also conduct in-store tastings and pairings, create cheese plates and gift baskets, and ensure the proper care and storage of items sold in the Market Cheese Shops. Additionally, you will be responsible for checking in deliveries, logging invoices daily, and maintaining cleanliness in adherence to food safety standards.
