About The Position

The Market Merchandiser is the strategic connector within the Merchandising and Design organization, synthesizing sales performance, customer insights, and marketplace intelligence to inform product and brand strategy. This role strengthens the product creation process by delivering clear, data driven guidance to merchandising, marketing, and sales teams, ensuring assortments align with key initiatives, margin goals, and customer needs. By shaping insight led assortment planning and facilitating cross functional alignment, the Market Merchandiser plays a pivotal role in advancing SanMar's portfolio and driving success.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree Business, Fashion Merchandising, Apparel Design, or related field.
  • 4-6 years of relevant experience in apparel product related roles
  • Sales experience in the promotional product channel
  • Travel 15% of time to gather insights from customers and sales team members

Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain comprehensive expertise across all SanMar products, including category dynamics, brand positioning, style performance, and competitive insights for key customer verticals: ASI, PPD, Industrial Laundry, Team Dealers, and Decorators.
  • Create and present compelling, data-driven assortment strategies and presentations to top customers and end users, clearly communicating SanMar’s value proposition and guiding strategic product decisions.
  • Act as the primary merchandising liaison, ensuring seamless and accurate product information flow between product line management, sales, marketing, and other teams, while upholding brand integrity throughout the go-to-market process.
  • Lead collaborative market discovery efforts with sales teams, synthesizing consumer insights, market trends, and competitive intelligence to validate product direction and inform future creation strategies.
  • Provide strategic direction to marketing on product positioning and channel-specific needs, representing merchandising in the development of catalogs, look books, product guides, e-commerce content, and marketing campaigns.
  • Contribute to the development and improvement of sales tools and training programs, empowering internal teams and the broader sales organization with enhanced product knowledge and execution capabilities.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
  • Comply with all policies and standards.

Benefits

  • Salary Range: You`ll earn between $100,000 - $145,000 annually, depending on experience.
  • Bonus: You`ll be eligible for an annual discretionary bonus up to 10% of base salary.
