About The Position

H2M is seeking a Market Lead in New Jersey to help grow, develop, and strengthen their Water and Wastewater Market in a doer-seller leadership role. This position combines business development, client relationship management, and technical leadership while supporting the strategic growth of water, wastewater, and municipal services. Reporting to the Market Director, this role is based in their Parsippany, NY office and will work with market, discipline, and firm leadership to advance H2M’s presence across the region. With more than 90 years of experience, H2M provides comprehensive water and wastewater engineering services grounded in innovation, precision, and technical excellence. Their expertise spans the full lifecycle of drinking water and wastewater systems from source assessment and treatment technologies to detailed design, construction support, and long‑term operation ensuring reliable, efficient solutions that meet regulatory requirements and community needs. Through seamless client collaboration, they deliver systems that protect public health, operate efficiently, and reflect a commitment to environmental stewardship.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree required, preferably in engineering.
  • 15+ years of experience in water and wastewater engineering consulting for municipal, private, and public agency clients.
  • Licensed Professional Engineer with the ability to obtain reciprocity in states where H2M operates.
  • Strong technical background with experience in project management, design, construction, operations, and administration of water and wastewater infrastructure.
  • Proven ability to maintain and grow client relationships while leading and mentoring technical staff.
  • Demonstrated success in business development, including securing new clients and expanding work with existing clients.
  • Willingness to travel statewide within Florida, with periodic travel to other operational regions as needed.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the preparation of engineering reports, studies, proposals, and presentations.
  • Strong public speaking and presentation abilities.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Adobe products.
  • Ability to effectively delegate responsibilities and coordinate proposal and project resources.
  • Ability to communicate clearly with clients, stakeholders, and team members in both group and one-on-one settings.
  • Awareness of emerging technologies and trends in the water and wastewater industry.

Nice To Haves

  • Familiarity with design-build, design-bid-build, and Private Public Partnership project delivery methods.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in the development and execution of strategies to grow the local and enterprise-wide Water and Wastewater Market.
  • Partner with the Market Director, Deputy Market Directors, Office Director, and Discipline Directors to implement annual business plan initiatives in existing and new service areas.
  • Establish project fees, revenue projections, and profit margins with strong financial accountability.
  • Collaborate with technical staff and marketing leadership on proposals, pursuits, and overall market strategy.
  • Serve as an H2M client representative and maintain strong, long-term client relationships.
  • Work closely with project disciplines to ensure client expectations are met with respect to scope, budget, schedule, and quality.
  • Lead and support the delivery of water and wastewater projects by coordinating staffing needs, achievable schedules, and deliverable timelines while ensuring client satisfaction.
  • Support the marketing team in the development of materials relevant to the Water and Wastewater Market.
  • Ensure H2M standard procedures and processes are consistently utilized and maintained across projects.
  • Under the direction of market leadership, participate in trade shows, client meetings, presentations, and thought leadership efforts, including articles, blogs, social media content, and press releases.
  • Assist with go/no-go decisions and proposal development, including strategy development, writing, coordination, and technical review.
  • Provide technical leadership and oversight by collaborating with project managers and water and wastewater professionals on scopes, budgets, and project plans.
  • Support the growth and development of the regional office and mentor staff within the discipline.
  • Build strong relationships with discipline managers and staff to understand capabilities, capacity, and resource needs.
  • Promote excellent customer service internally and externally through proactive communication and responsiveness.
