About The Position

The Market Director of Pharmacy is responsible for overseeing the functions and activities of multiple Pharmacy Departments within designated hospitals. This role includes serving as the Pharmacist in Charge, ensuring compliance with quality standards, managing pharmaceutical inventory, and advising on regulatory and risk issues. The director will also participate in strategic planning and budgeting, while promoting staff development and maintaining high standards of patient care.

Requirements

  • BS or PharmD from an accredited School of Pharmacy required.
  • Current Pharmacist licensure in the state where the hospital is located.
  • BLS certification within 90 days of hire.
  • Minimum two years of hospital pharmacy management experience required.
  • Working knowledge of OSHA, TJC, CMS, FDA, DEA, and state requirements.
  • Excellent oral and written communication and interpersonal skills.

Nice To Haves

  • Master's Degree preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Direct and coordinate functions and activities of the Pharmacy Departments.
  • Ensure compliance with patient care quality standards.
  • Control the purchase and inventory maintenance of pharmaceuticals and related supplies.
  • Participate in departmental planning, revenue analysis, budgeting, education, and human resource management activities.
  • Consult with Administration, Medical staff, and hospital staff on quality, regulatory, and risk issues.
  • Participate in Joint Commission and regulatory body surveys.
  • Support and serve as a consultant to medical staff and clinical service personnel on pharmaceutical issues.
  • Plan and develop departmental budgets and operational expenses.
  • Develop and provide written scope of services and departmental policies.
  • Communicate the hospital's mission and plans with staff.
  • Promote and motivate staff to implement operational plans.
  • Provide orientation, training, and performance reviews for department personnel.
  • Participate in performance improvement activities to assess service quality.
  • Maintain accurate patient profiles and provide timely drug information.
  • Perform drug procurement, distribution, preparation, and clinical monitoring procedures.
