About The Position

The role of Manager, Market Development and Planning for Independent Retail Channel is responsible for delivering Marmot and Coleman market share and profit growth within Independent Retail channel through the successful execution of Distribution, Shelving, Merchandising and Pricing (DSMP) strategies. This role will collaborate with sales and internal cross functional partners to ensure Coleman and Marmot brand initiatives are market ready and positioned to win with Independent Retailers, including managing assets required to execute B2B eCommerce and Digital Merchandising platform (Elastic).

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree required
  • 5+ years of experience with a CPG or durable company, ideally in direct sales, broker management, D2C management, or trade/channel marketing, preferably within outdoor channel
  • Strong business acumen with the ability to influence different key players within an organization
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Excellent project management skills
  • Ability to travel 25% of the time

Nice To Haves

  • Experience managing B2B commerce and Digital Merchandising platform (Elastic) is preferred

Responsibilities

  • Broker Sales Management
  • Front-line responsibility for leading day-to-day selling efforts on Coleman with existing “Hook and Bullet” Sales Brokers, including, catalog readiness, pricing and selling materials.
  • Responsible for supporting Marmot sales leader in achieving commercial readiness to expand Coleman distribution with “Lifestyle” sales brokers
  • Annual Budget Development & Attainment
  • Develop and deliver annual budget, including building blocks, and risks/opportunities.
  • Provides input into S&OP cycle (Demand Review). Focuses on driving continuous improvements to forecast accuracy and attainment with Field Sales.
  • Monitors Innovation Sell-In and Reporting at customer \ channel level.
  • Customer P&L Management
  • Collaborates with Sales and Finance to develop pro-forma P&Ls for assortment swaps, line review recommendations, seasonal programs, merchandising displays.
  • Leads financial analysis on Price Exceptions and ITN investments outside of existing guardrails to ensure alignment with category \ brand strategy and to maximize Returns on customer Investments
  • Catalog Development & B2B eCommerce Portal Domain Expert
  • Subject matter expert for Elastic B2B eCommerce platform.
  • Day to day contact to ensure site is transacting correctly with Elastic, sales and customer service.
  • Collaborate with internal resources (marketing, design, IT, sales, customer service) to ensure traditional catalog and B2B assortments are up to date for Coleman and Marmot brands.
  • Supports Customer Engagements
  • Line Review (LR)- internal leader for LR preparations on strategic customers. Makes DSMP recommendations, assess financials, secures approvals
  • Trade Shows- represent the business at trade shows by demonstrating category and company knowledge to customers visiting Newell exhibits
