About The Position

The Market Clerk at United Supermarkets is primarily responsible for ensuring guest satisfaction through superior customer service. This role involves maintaining a clean and well-stocked service counter, managing product quality and freshness, and performing various tasks related to the meat department, including receiving and stocking products, engaging with customers, and assisting in training new associates.

Requirements

• Must be 18 years of age or older.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment efficiently and in a controlled manner.
• Ability to perform physical aspects of meat department duties including standing, bending, lifting, squatting, reaching, twisting, climbing, and walking.
• Ability to lift items weighing up to 100 lbs regularly and push/pull loaded hand trucks and pallet jacks.
• Manual dexterity and good eye-hand coordination are necessary.
• Ability to operate related equipment including scales, knives, band saws, meat tenderizers, meat slicers, and grinders.
• Ability to work for periods of up to 8-10 hours in 50-degree temperatures.

Responsibilities

• Acknowledge, greet, and engage guests upon their entry into the department.
• Engage in suggestive selling and other sales techniques.
• Order products to ensure adequate supply and maintain quality and freshness.
• Perform receiving duties including breaking down loads, cutting cases, stacking, pricing, and marking merchandise.
• Organize cooler and storage areas and refrigerate products immediately.
• Verify orders against invoices and audit product cases for inventory control.
• Stock, rotate, and face products while preventing shrink and damage.
• Open and set up the butcher block case and close it according to company procedures.
• Follow daily work schedules as assigned by management.
• Adhere to dress code and attendance guidelines as per the associate handbook.
• Perform meat wrapper duties as assigned by management.
• Assist in training new associates and maintain the fresh meat counter.
• Replace market supplies as necessary and perform other duties as requested by management.
