Position Overview The Market Access & Reimbursement Specialist plays a critical role in ensuring patients, providers, and facilities can seamlessly access Synapse Biomedical's medical device technologies. This highly visible, customer-facing position supports reimbursement operations, education, and market access strategy. The ideal candidate enjoys building relationships, thrives in a collaborative environment, communicates effectively with diverse stakeholders, and excels at resolving complex reimbursement challenges.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Finance, Healthcare, or related field, or equivalent experience.
  • Minimum 3 years' experience in medical device reimbursement; neuromodulation experience preferred.
  • Demonstrated expertise in all MS Office programs, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook; ability to learn additional programs, such as database creation.
  • Strong expertise in payer policies, medical coding, coverage requirements, and reimbursement processes.
  • Proficiency with EPIC, SSI, OnBase, and payer portals.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills; strong analytical and organizational abilities.
  • Ability to type 45+ WPM and maintain sustained focus on complex documentation.
  • Willingness to travel up to 30%; valid driver's license and clean driving record.

Responsibilities

  • Reimbursement Operations & Customer Support: Research, troubleshoot, and resolve reimbursement obstacles in partnership with providers and payers.
  • Respond to coding, coverage, and payment inquiries from physicians, hospitals, clinical teams, and internal partners.
  • Support patients, caregivers, and referral sources by providing accurate information and processing orders for devices and DME.
  • Verify insurance eligibility, process claims adjustments and refunds, and ensure payer and regulatory compliance.
  • Review CPT-4, ICD-10, UB04, HCFA 1500, and charge accuracy to maximize reimbursement outcomes.
  • Education, Communication & Resource Development: Provide compliant reimbursement education to Sales, clinical specialists, physicians, and facilities.
  • Develop tools, presentations, and training resources that strengthen market access and reimbursement success.
  • Deliver live training sessions for internal and external audiences.
  • Represent the company at industry tradeshows and events, serving as a reimbursement subject-matter expert.
  • Market Access Strategy & Collaboration: Collaborate with reimbursement consultants on complex claims, payer advocacy, and coverage initiatives.
  • Support contracting, coverage, and payer policy efforts that expand access to Synapse technologies.
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of payer trends, regulatory requirements, and reimbursement environments.
  • Track and report reimbursement performance, coverage trends, and strategic initiatives.
  • Work cross-functionally with Sales, Marketing, Quality/Regulatory, and Engineering.
