About The Position

Providing Technical Project Management for a collection of small research teams working on Defense Technology Development for Maritime Surveillance Systems for the Environmental Science Laboratory (ESL).

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering, math, computer science, or related technical fields.
  • Three years of relevant experience.
  • Experience developing underwater acoustic processing/recording, testing such systems, and evaluating such system's performance.
  • Acoustic data analysis and signal processing experience.
  • Experience preparing briefing materials, documentation, and managing schedules.
  • Experience leading a team and interacting with sponsors.
  • Experience working with other organizations in research and testing environments.
  • Applicant must have a dynamic skill set, willing to work with new technologies, be highly organized, capable of planning and coordinating multiple tasks, be willing to accept and incorporate feedback, and managing their time. This position will require attention to detail, effective problem solving, sound engineering judgment, and excellent communication skills. Demonstrated ability to work independently and with sensitive and confidential information, maintain a professional demeanor, work as a team member without daily supervision, and effectively communicate with all groups of clients. Applicant must be able to work under pressure and accept supervision with regular and punctual attendance.

  • Applicant selected will be subject to a government security investigation and must meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information at the level appropriate to the project requirements of the position.

Nice To Haves

  • Master's degree in Mechanical, Electrical, or Software Engineering; or Engineering Management.
  • Five years or more of relevant experience.
  • Experience managing projects in the DoD R&D environment.
  • Cumulative GPA of 3.0.

Responsibilities

  • Develop project plans and supervise execution of research program including project timelines and budgets, staffing allocations.
  • Monitor progress of ARL analysis teams, as well as external organizations.
  • Assist execution teams with tasks as needed.
  • Facilitate research efforts as required.
  • Interface with sponsor and report progress, assist sponsor with program planning and execution.
  • Represent ARL at external organizations and project meetings.
  • Preparation and review of analysis, planning, and other technical presentations for reports, contract procedural requirements, deliverables, and invoicing.
  • Coordinate delivery of required contract documentation in coordination with the sponsor offices and ARL support offices (Contracts, Human Resources, Accounting, etc…).
  • Prepare requested statements of work, contract proposals, etc… as requested by the sponsor.
  • Coordinate at ARL:UT and in-field/at-sea operations.
  • Facilitate operations, as needed, working with ARL:UT, external organizations, and international partners to ensure mission success.
  • May include coordination of supply chain for needed materials, computational hardware planning for processing centers, logistical support in domestic or international ports, and security compliance oversight.
  • Other related functions as assigned.
