About The Position

The Maritime Policy Coordinator supports the development and advancement of CLIA’s positions on maritime legislative, regulatory, and technical matters. In consultation with CLIA Members and Maritime Policy leadership, this role helps develop, present, and negotiate industry positions on issues related to environmental protection, security, medical and public health, passenger and crew facilitation, and other policy matters affecting the global cruise industry. The Maritime Policy Coordinator works closely with CLIA members, government officials, and industry stakeholders to support regulatory engagement at the international, regional, federal, and state levels.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s level degree.
  • 0-4+ years of relevant professional experience.
  • Equivalent combination of education and experience will be considered.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and deliverables simultaneously.
  • Basic proficiency in MS Office applications.

Nice To Haves

  • Technical training and experience.
  • Background and experience in relevant aspects of shipboard operations is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • In collaboration with members of the Maritime Policy team, develops, coordinates, and presents CLIA policy positions to international, regional, national, and state regulatory and rule-making bodies, industry associations, and other external stakeholders.
  • Coordinates internal and external efforts on relevant maritime policy matters with CLIA Members, industry associations, and other relevant stakeholders.
  • Participates in and assists with the facilitation and management of CLIA delegations to the International Maritime Organization (IMO) and other international and regional organizations, including engaging with officials to inform the discussions and advance industry positions.
  • Supports the organization and facilitation of CLIA committees, working groups, and policy meetings related to maritime regulatory issues.
  • Coordinates with other associations and organizations on issues of shared interest across the broader sector.
  • Participates in Federal Advisory committee and other public meetings as appropriate.
  • Assists with matters directly associated with management of the Maritime Policy team, including facilitating internal coordination and developing newsletter and website content.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
