As a Marine Engineering Forensic Expert at Robson Forensic, you will investigate incidents in both the commercial maritime industry and the recreational boating community. Your role will involve analyzing maritime equipment and procedures, applying your comprehensive knowledge of standards and practices to determine incident causes and timelines. You will be responsible for writing clear, scientifically sound reports and providing expert testimony. This position requires delving into the 'why' behind incidents, critically assessing decision-making, operational procedures, and the standard of care. You will handle various incidents, including collisions, fires, explosions, personal injuries, industrial accidents, product failures, and cargo issues. Investigations will also cover aspects related to cargo, insurance, marine facilities, and compliance with international and national rules and codes.   • Investigate incidents in the commercial maritime industry and recreational boating community.
  • Analyze maritime equipment and procedures to determine incident causes and timelines.
  • Write clear, scientifically sound reports.
  • Provide expert testimony.
  • Critically assess decision-making, operational procedures, and the standard of care behind incidents.
  • Engineering degree from an accredited university.
  • P.E. license or E.I.T. license with the ability to obtain P.E. licensure in at least one state within 6 months.
  • Preferred USCG credential.
  • 15+ years of maritime experience with 10+ years of hands-on work experience.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a collaborative team.
  • Excellent technical and analytical skills.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Willingness to travel about 20% on average.
  • Valid driver's license and ability to drive.
  • Prior forensic experience is not required, but eagerness to apply deep industry knowledge to a new domain is preferred.
