Employees perform acetylene and electric arc welding to permanently fuse metal parts of machinery and equipment on certified ferries. Work is characterized by requirements for close tolerance welding and for welding in a variety of physical positions. Work is performed under the general supervision of the Marine Hull Supervisor who reviews the quality of welding on non-certified vessels. Coast Guard Inspectors approve all welding performed on certified vessels in accordance with Coast Guard regulations.
