The position involves working within a small company atmosphere alongside other marine engineers, naval architects, and designers to tackle engineering challenges. Projects will encompass various types of vessels in the maritime industry, including ships, yachts, tugs, pleasure boats, and passenger vessels. Responsibilities include creating engineering drawings and schematics for both new construction and refit projects, designing systems, routing piping, and specifying equipment suitable for the vessel type and service. The role also requires managing projects, which includes creating work scopes and schedules, communicating with clients, coordinating technical vendors, and attending project meetings. Additionally, the position involves managing the class and regulatory submittal, review, and approval process. Some travel and fieldwork will be necessary, as engineers must be able to work safely aboard ships and in a shipyard environment, which includes climbing ladders and navigating walkways, gangways, and confined spaces.
