About The Position

Our New York City, NY office located in Midtown Manhattan is actively searching for a Senior Marine Structural Engineer in to serve as a technical lead on waterfront structures projects. As the successful new hire, you will be actively engaged on large port development and coastal resiliency projects. This position will also work with teams across the company on a variety of structural projects related to marine infrastructure engineering. Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or related field; Master's degree in Structural Engineering preferred
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license required with ability to gain license in the State of New York within 6 months of hire
  • Minimum of 15 years of experience in structural engineering, with a focus on marine/waterfront projects
  • Proficiency in structural analysis software such as SAP2000, STAAD.Pro, or similar
  • All new hires will be required to successfully complete and pass a pre-employment (post offer) background check in compliance with NIST 800-171
  • Moffatt & Nichol uses E-Verify and employment is contingent upon the legal ability to obtain employment in the U.S. and to present the required documentation at hire

Nice To Haves

  • Licensed Structural Engineer (SE) strongly preferred
  • Academy of Coastal, Ocean, Port & Navigation Engineers (ACOPNE) certification in the Port Engineering category preferred

Responsibilities

  • Establish Design Standards: Develop and maintain standards for the design of marine structures and foundations, utilizing various materials including cast-in-place and prestressed concrete, steel, and timber
  • Technical Oversight: Provide guidance and technical leadership to junior staff members within the structural team, ensuring adherence to industry best practices
  • Collaboration: Interface and coordinate with multidisciplinary teams of engineers to ensure seamless integration of structural design within overall project objectives
  • Structural Analysis and Design: Conduct structural analysis and design, perform thorough QA/QC reviews, and prepare project deliverables including plans, calculations, specifications, estimates, reports, and memorandums
  • Training and Development: Actively participate in the training and mentorship of junior staff members, supporting their professional growth and development within the Company
  • Quality Assurance: Conduct quality reviews of deliverables, serving as a Senior Technical Reviewer to ensure accuracy, completeness, and compliance with project requirements
  • Client Interaction: Engage directly with clients, providing technical expertise, addressing concerns, and building strong relationships to enhance client satisfaction and project success
