DMR is seeking applicants with strong analytical, scientific writing, and collaborative research skills for this senior research scientist position. This state-funded position is responsible for leading high-priority research to inform fishery management decision making and offers a unique opportunity to combine ecology, marine science, fishery science, and community engagement. This position will lead and develop research to quantify the biological impact to lobsters (life history, growth, reproduction) of fishery management actions in the Gulf of Maine. This position will be expected to expand DMR’s lobster research program by working in direct collaboration with the DMR Marine Mammal Division, federal scientists, academic researchers, and participants in the Maine lobster industry to develop and execute timely research. This position is also responsible for coordinating lobster research across the state, leading research proposals to external funding sources, and generating scientific publications to disseminate results. Additionally, there may be opportunities to represent the department at state, interstate and meetings. This is a supervisory position responsible for evaluating and coaching the performance of subordinates and advising the Division Director on personnel concerns and issues.
