About The Position

As a key member of the Stabilis Marine team, the Marine Operations Manager is responsible for overseeing all aspects of voyage management in alignment with Charter Party terms, serving as the primary point of contact for vessel masters, owners, and brokers. Additionally, the position involves providing guidance on daily operational matters and proactively identifying and addressing potential risks to safeguard company interests.

Requirements

  • A bachelor’s degree is preferred in maritime studies, marine engineering, or other related technical or business disciplines.
  • Oceans/Unlimited Tonnage Merchant Mariner credentials preferred or equivalent commercial marine operations experience.
  • Minimum 5 years’ experience supervising in marine operations management.
  • Minimum of two (2) years’ experience in petroleum or chemical industry; LNG and/or cryogenic experience a plus.
  • Bi-lingual in Spanish preferred.
  • Proficient in computer skills, including Microsoft Office Suite and SharePoint/ OneDrive, and the ability to make mathematical computations using Excel is required. Understand and execute tasks using remote access software in virtual (VM or VPN) environment.
  • Must possess excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, for effective coordination with field staff, other departments, management, and external stakeholders, with a collaborative approach.
  • Possess the ability to multi-task, prioritize, critically think and problem solve in demanding industrial environments is critical.
  • Ability to use, maintain and enforce personal protective equipment standards (i.e., safety toe boots, hard hat, flame retardant clothing, ear/eye protection).
  • Ability to travel as business dictates (> 15%).
  • Must possess a valid driver’s license, with a safe driving record and ability to rent a vehicle from the Company’s preferred rental car vendors.
  • Ability to pass drug/alcohol screening and occupational medical exam.
  • Ability to obtain the TX Railroad Commission certification.

Nice To Haves

Responsibilities

  • Supervise day-to-day operations occurring at the port of Galveston and potentially at other customer facilities or Stabilis job sites.
  • Develop and sustain productive relationships with internal and external stakeholders to facilitate safe and efficient voyage planning and execution.
  • Work closely with internal stakeholders including, but not limited to, the Marine team, Plant Managers, Logistics, Finance & Accounting, and Health & Safety.
  • Work closely with external parties including, but not limited to, Vessel Owners, Marine Brokers, Agents, and Masters.
  • Enforce all company, customer safety and environmental procedures to ensure compliance.
  • Apply commercial acumen and marine expertise to identify and manage risks related to the transportation of liquid natural gas, hydrocarbons and other chemicals.
  • Oversee non-scheduling operational activities for owned, time-chartered, and spot-chartered vessels, ensuring adherence to Charter Party terms, company policies, and Voyage Operations Procedures. This includes:
  • Managing vessels, port, and berth clearances
  • Preparing and issuing Voyage Orders (including loading and discharge instructions)
  • Optimizing cargo intakes and ensuring compliance with under-keel clearance (UKC) requirements
  • Appointing port agents
  • Administering Charter Party terms
  • Identifying opportunities for optimal bunker procurement
  • Contributing to the development and enhancement of processes and procedures
  • Implement innovative commercial strategies to enhance voyage profitability and achieve cost efficiencies; utilize dashboard analytics to track savings and lessons learned.
  • Provide pre-fixture advisory support to Charterers.
  • Collaborate with the trading business to deliver marine and commercial insights that support informed decision-making.
