Requirements

• Vocational technical school degree/certification or High School Diploma/GED.
• Two to four years of experience in marine or automotive maintenance.
• Basic reading, writing, and math skills (metric).
• Knowledge of and ability to operate portable drills, vacuums, wrenches, pliers, tape, testers, voltmeters, and pressure gauges.
• Possess a basic mechanic tool set and metric SAE standard mechanic tool set.

Responsibilities

• Learn to perform installation and repair of fixtures and equipment for mechanical service, plumbing, and engines.
• Read and interpret blueprints, wiring diagrams, and schematics.
• Conduct light maintenance of mechanical boat systems.
• Run fluid hoses, seacocks, and manage propane tanks.
• Assist in the installation of intake and discharge fittings for plumbing and engine cooling.
• Secure plumbing fixtures and hoses, applying sealant as needed.
• Cut holes for valves and outlets, ensuring a watertight fit.
• Assist in the installation of motors, pumps, and auxiliary systems.
• Develop basic material lists and learn the billing/charge process.
