About The Position

Marine Mechanic Position: Marine Mechanic Job Location: Harahan, LA Hutco Branch: Harvey, LA Rate of Pay: $20.00 to $30.00 per hour based on Experience (time and a half for overtime after 40 hours) NO TWIC card required. NO per diem available. Long-term work. LOTS OF HOURS AVAILABLE!!! Job Function Maintain the following equipment, hydraulic, air compressor, centrifuges, water system, sewer system, heating and cooling systems, and alarm systems. Maintain proper operation of basic systems such as electrical, sewage, heating and cooling, and winches. Physical Requirement, Demands and Working Conditions Balancing on beams while carrying load. Daily various weights Ladder climbing – 2’ to 12’ with heavy load. Daily 0-20 lbs. Stair climbing – 2’ to 12’ with heavy load. Daily 0-20 lbs. Climbing walls, mast, various levels. Daily Slippery surface Turn Valve – small diameter, large diameter while reaching (two hands). Daily High Force required. Type of Task Frequency Exposure/ Conditions Turning / winching equipment. Various diameters (2 hands used). Daily 170 lbs. of force to tighten cables Enter/ exit hatches, stairways. Daily Agility, balance Wearing required PPE while performing any task above (i.e. respirators, goggles, etc..) Daily Environmental and chemical Proper use and fit of respirator or self-contained breathing apparatus. As needed (Emergency) Exposure to chemical toxins. Temperature extremes Daily extended periods Environmental. Heat up 120 degrees. Vision adequate for minimum or very dim light. Daily Environmental and nighttime work Hear verbal commands/ both ears/> 10ft. distance/ noise levels. Daily Noise> 85 dB TWA. Vibration of equipment. Dust, fumes, vapors, gases, particulates. Weekly / Monthly environmental and chemical Confined workspaces Daily Environmental and chemical Communication skills Daily writing, reading, calculation/estimation skills and verbal presentation Safety Participates in and may rotate as lead for monthly safety meeting Maintains equipment, tools, supplies, and machinery room spaces in clean, dry and orderly condition Inspection, record-keeping and verifying Keeps logs of items such as hours of engine operation, temperatures, pressures and fuel consumption Keeps logs of major repairs and maintains parts inventory for repairs Implements and follows maintenance plans by setting up schedules for personnel to follow to accomplish these tasks in a timely fashion Checks inventory and supplies and writes requisition for needed parts and supplies for the job. Responsibilities

Keeps logs of items such as hours of engine operation, temperatures, pressures and fuel consumption
Keeps logs of major repairs and maintains parts inventory for repairs
Implements and follows maintenance plans by setting up schedules for personnel to follow to accomplish these tasks in a timely fashion
Checks inventory and supplies and writes requisition for needed parts and supplies for the job.
Participates in and may rotate as lead for monthly safety meeting
Maintains equipment, tools, supplies, and machinery room spaces in clean, dry and orderly condition
