About The Position
The Marine Mammal Stranding Coordinator at the University of North Carolina Wilmington (UNCW) is responsible for leading the marine mammal stranding response efforts in the designated coverage area under a federal agreement with NOAA. This role involves coordinating all aspects of stranding operations, ensuring compliance with relevant regulations, and collaborating with various stakeholders including staff, faculty, veterinarians, and volunteers. The Coordinator will also mentor students, teach courses related to marine mammal biology, and manage outreach initiatives. The position requires effective data management and the ability to work under challenging conditions, with occasional travel for fieldwork and meetings.
