About The Position

Essential Duties and Responsibilities · Learn and become proficient in phytoplankton culturing · Assist with culture maintenance and experimental design and execution · DNA isolation and quantification · Conduct PCR and gel electrophoresis · Document laboratory procedures following GMGI standards · Assist with field sampling as required Education and Work Experience Requirements: · Basic understanding of molecular biology principles, specifically relating to DNA structure and the central dogma, to support tasks like DNA isolation and PCR · Excellent organizational skills with a focus on data quality and precise documentation. · Demonstrated computer proficiency in word processing and spreadsheet or commitment to learn · Knowledge of general laboratory safety policies and procedures and experience with proper handling of standard laboratory chemicals and reagents · Proactive "self-starting" attitude toward learning new laboratory techniques and troubleshooting experimental challenges as they arise. · Integrity towards scientific research and data quality · Applicants must be authorized to work in the US Other Requirements: Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. Requirements
