This Marine Fisheries Biologist position will serve as part of the Protected Resources Program to ensure the goals of the Fisheries Management Observer Program are met through coordination with other program staff, data management and analysis, and preparation of reports. This will require a high level of organization, excellent communication skills, and the ability to make decisions quickly. This position will work in tandem with another Conservation Biologist I to supervise permanent and temporary fisheries observers and assist with observer coordination. Other job duties include improving and developing sampling protocols, data analysis and quality control, field work, and program development. The Biologist will work with different agencies and stakeholder groups to accomplish these tasks including, but not limited to, commercial and recreational fishermen, seafood dealers, and federal and state agencies. Participation in committees and plan development teams is required as necessary. The Biologist must be able to effectively communicate complex ideas to a variety of audiences. A successful candidate must possess the ability to communicate clearly and concisely in oral and written forms to the public and employees and be able to establish effective working relationships with staff, internal customers, and the public.
