Job Summary: Technical specialist and primary customer support contact to diagnose and execute complex repairs to engine products at the customer's site. We are looking for a talented Marine Field Service Diesel Technician/Mechanic to join our Distribution business in (Portland, OR) . We offer relocation, competitive pay and benefits! This role will make an impact in the following ways: Perform complex diagnostics, repairs, overhauls, and rebuilds on Cummins marine engines and generator systems at customer sites, docks, and shipyards. Provide advanced troubleshooting and root cause analysis using Cummins INSITE and other electronic diagnostic tools. Complete preventive maintenance and corrective repairs in compliance with Cummins standards and customer requirements. Maintain detailed and accurate service documentation, including repair records, warranty claims, and time entries. Ensure all work adheres to Cummins Health, Safety & Environmental policies and marine safety regulations. Provide guidance and mentorship to less experienced technicians, sharing technical expertise and best practices.

  • Perform complex diagnostics, repairs, overhauls, and rebuilds on Cummins marine engines and generator systems at customer sites, docks, and shipyards.
  • Provide advanced troubleshooting and root cause analysis using Cummins INSITE and other electronic diagnostic tools.
  • Complete preventive maintenance and corrective repairs in compliance with Cummins standards and customer requirements.
  • Maintain detailed and accurate service documentation, including repair records, warranty claims, and time entries.
  • Ensure all work adheres to Cummins Health, Safety & Environmental policies and marine safety regulations.
  • Provide guidance and mentorship to less experienced technicians, sharing technical expertise and best practices.
  • Proven ability to complete complex internal engine repairs and perform unassisted marine engine overhauls .
  • Extensive experience troubleshooting mechanical, electrical, and aftertreatment systems (DEF, DPF, exhaust).
  • Ability to diagnose issues independently, with limited or no assistance from diagnostic tools.
  • Thorough understanding of marine propulsion systems , cooling, fuel, and electrical systems.
  • Experience coaching or mentoring other technicians, including technical documentation and process support.
  • Strong customer service orientation and ability to perform effectively in the field with minimal supervision.
  • Must possess a valid driver's license, meet DOT requirements , and be able to travel to customer sites or ports as needed.
  • Strong mechanical background and troubleshooting skills required; able to diagnose, adjust and repair malfunctions.
  • Self-starter able to work with limited supervision.
  • Excellent customer satisfaction skills and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment required.
  • Proficient in the use of a computer, Microsoft Office products and service software required in position; able to complete service reports and provide pertinent details for work orders.
  • Must be able to work additional hours to meet business and customer demands.
  • Must be willing to travel/work out of town as needed.
  • Must be well organized and have the ability to prioritize workload while providing excellent customer service.
  • Valid driver's license and clean driving record.

  • A current valid license is required for this role
  • This role requires a 5 year motor vehicle report, free from major violations
  • This role requires applicant to pass a Department of Transportation (DOT) physical
  • 3 years driving experience
  • This role is subject to Department of Transportation (DOT) driving regulations including Hours of Service and Electronic Log Booking Device use
  • Federal law requires operators of commercial vehicles to be 21 years of age or older, applicant must be 21 years of age
  • This position is subject to Federal Transit Administration random and pre-employment drug testing requirements. This roll will be subject to on-going random drug and alcohol testing.
