About The Position

If you are dedicated to training sailors and assessing the material condition of U.S. Navy ships’ Aviation Systems, and programs such as a TYCOM Material Inspection Team (TMIT) member - Serco has a great opportunity for you! TMIT provides systems-focused material assessment support and crew training to U.S. Navy ships located in both East Coast CONUS and OCONUS fleet concentration areas. TMIT members prepare ship’s crews for INSURV Material Inspections and execution of Readiness Evaluations in support of the COMNAVSURFPAC Type Commander (TYCOM). The Marine Engineering Analyst is on a dynamic team of Navy Subject Matter Experts in Norfolk, VA. You will be part of an exclusive team that works closely with Surface Type Commander Readiness Evaluations and TMIT. The team was established in 2011 to enhance NAVSEA’s mission of Fleet support by providing focused support to in-service ships in the preparation and execution of INSURV Material Inspections (MI). In this role, you will: Provide primarily Aviation Systems focused material assessment support and crew training to U.S. Navy ships, located in both CONUS and OCONUS, preparing for INSURV Material Inspections, or in execution of Readiness Evaluations as a representative of the TYCOM. Provide support to Surface Type Commander Readiness Evaluations and will work closely with the Type Commander Material Inspection Team. Assist in developing class equipment trends and commonalities across TMIT assist visit results and provide recommendations for improvements that can be implemented in acquisition and/or availability planning. Work directly with ships force in planning and prioritizing maintenance actions, which will lead to material improvement. Conduct shipboard surveys, prioritize repairs, and train ships force in support of INSURV preparation. Provide written assessments of material condition, crew knowledge, and Engineering systems readiness, in support of INSURV preparation progress to the ship and the ship’s chain of command. Make recommendations for providing additional TYCOM assistance if needed and participate in post-INSURV events to capture Lessons Learned and process issues to improve combat readiness. Draft and submit technical feedback reports (TFBR) and PMS FBRs as necessary to contribute to current fleet readiness. Requirements

  • An active DOD Secret Security Clearance
  • Bachelor's degree with a minimum of 3 years of related experience. OR an Associate's degree and 5 years of related experience. OR a HS Diploma/GED and 10 years of experience.
  • Must have experience in providing training and assessments at the senior technical level.
  • The ability to travel up to 50%.

Nice To Haves

  • Recent experience (within the last 5 years) operating or maintaining Aviation equipment.
  • Retired E7/E8.
  • Experience as one of the following: An Inspector for the U.S. Navy Board of Inspection and Survey (INSURV); Inspector at the Afloat Training Group; or TYCOM staff focusing on Pre-INSURV preparations.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite of tools (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
