Now Hiring: Marine Field Service Technician/Mechanic – Southeast Texas (Marine Diesel Technician | Marine Field Service Mechanic | Boat Engine Repair | Marine Generator Technician) Mustang Cat is urgently hiring skilled Marine Field Service Technicians/Mechanics to support our Marine Services division. This role plays a vital part in keeping vessels running smoothly across the Gulf Coast and inland waterways by providing expert diagnostics, repairs, and preventative maintenance on Caterpillar marine engines and generators. If you're experienced in boat engine repair or have a background working as a marine diesel technician, this is a high-impact opportunity with a respected name in industrial and marine power systems. As a Marine Field Service Mechanic, you’ll inspect, diagnose, and repair Caterpillar marine engines and generators aboard vessels and at port facilities. You’ll be trusted to perform field-based service with minimal supervision while ensuring safe and reliable equipment operation.

Requirements

  • Must own proper tools required for marine engine repair
  • High school diploma or equivalent required
  • Experience servicing diesel engines and performing generator repair
  • Ability to diagnose and repair electronic marine control systems
  • Strong communication and customer service skills
  • Basic computer skills for service documentation

Nice To Haves

  • Associate's degree or technical certification preferred - (Military or relevant field experience will also be considered)

Responsibilities

  • Diagnose and repair marine diesel engines and generator systems
  • Perform in-field engine overhauls and marine power unit service
  • Troubleshoot electronic engine control systems
  • Deliver service excellence directly onboard marine vessels
  • Communicate professionally with vessel owners, captains, and customers
  • Document service actions and support safety-first field operations
