About The Position
Join HII as we keep the world's most powerful Navy afloat! Join our Elevator Support Unit (ESU) as a Marine Electrician! This position will support contracted skilled trades work on Weapon Elevators and Aircraft Elevators and their systems on U.S. Navy ships. Travel within and outside of the continental United States may be required. This is a full-time position, located in Chesapeake, VA. What You Will Do Performs a variety of maintenance and technical support on elevators and elevator doors such as equipment, integrated systems and subsystems, and software at customer and/or field locations. Analyzes and evaluates elevator operations and related performance. Troubleshoot, maintenance and repair electrical systems and its associated equipment to eliminate problem in minimum time. Install, upgrade and remove electrical systems on elevators and elevator door components ensuring coordinative engineering field change. Applies comprehensive understanding of production and processes toward completion of assignments. Responsible for interfacing with customers, managing subcontractors and ability to provide work direction to others. Develops and uses technical documents including controlled work packages, formal work processes and procedures, test documents, reports and task or trip reports. Schedules, reports and briefs customers and senior management. Performs duties outside of specialty in order to complete installation or work assignment.
Requirements
- High School education, or Trade School or equivalent, and 4 years of related experience.
- Must provide own hand tools as designated per trades specialty.
- Must have working knowledge and experience with troubleshooting, maintenance and repairs of electrical systems and its associated equipment.
- Must be proficient in reading drawings and schematics.
- Must be able to follow/enforce safety procedures to ensure a safe and secure work environment.
- Must be able to obtain and maintain a DoD Confidential security clearance.
- Must be able to obtain base access credentials within 60 days of start date and maintain credentials throughout employment.
Nice To Haves
- Experience in the maintenance and repair of Navy and/or MSC shipboard cargo and weapons elevators, ordnance handling equipment, and vertical package conveyors.
- A current, active DoD Confidential security clearance or higher.
- Previous experience working with PLC Controllers.
- Able to read and understand the use of precision measuring tools.
- Able to identify system and component location based on ships structure.
- Previous experience and ability to use meters and test equipment.
- Prefer technical/professional certifications.
