The Department of Biology in the College of Natural & Health Sciences at The University of Tampa invites applications for part-time positions as non-majors marine biology instructors. Responsibilities will include teaching one or more non-majors marine biology lecture sections, which meet for 3 hours per week for a semester. The instructor will have the autonomy to select the lecture textbook for non-majors courses and will assist students both in and out of the classroom. Additionally, the instructor will create a syllabus for students each semester using learning outcome guidelines provided by the department, designed to meet the general education goals of the University. The role also involves providing meeting times for students as needed, administering and grading examinations and assignments, managing an online/paperwork grading system, and assessing and reporting student progress related to the general education goals of the University.

  • Teach one or more non-majors marine biology lecture sections.
  • Select the lecture textbook for non-majors courses.
  • Assist students both in and out of the classroom.
  • Create syllabus for students each semester using learning outcome guidelines provided by the department.
  • Provide meeting time for students as needed.
  • Administer and grade examinations and assignments.
  • Manage online/paperwork grading system as needed.
  • Assess and report student progress related to general education goals of the University.
  • A minimum of a Master's Degree in Biology or related field.
  • Ph.D. strongly preferred.
  • Experience teaching non-majors/introductory marine biology preferred.
