About The Position

Palmetto Bluff is nestled along the May River in the Lowcountry of South Carolina between Hilton Head Island and Savannah. Job Summary: The Marina Dock Master is responsible for assisting the Marina Operations Manager in the daily marina operations. This person will have a solid understanding of daily operations including forklift movements, boat preparations, reservations and maintenance skills in order for the marina to operate efficiently, assist in facility quality, repairs and personnel development. Be responsible for performing and supervising repairs, daily and monthly projects, and preventative maintenance with the Wilson Landing team. The Dock Master projects a professional company image through all types of interactions. As this is a fast-paced environment, he or she must be able to work under pressure. Will always ensure a consistently high level of member satisfaction and pride in Wilson Landing.

Requirements

  • High school or equivalent education required
  • 3 - 5 years of experience in the marina industry
  • Excellent customer service and guest relations
  • Strong understanding of boat storage/dry stack facilities
  • Highly ethical
  • Extremely versatile leader
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, fluency in English.
  • Excel, Word and PowerPoint literate
  • Ability to handle multiple tasks efficiently and accurately
  • Ability to work collaboratively with others
  • Strong organization skills and attention to details
  • Ability to communicate clearly, maturely and compassionately with members in writing and in person
  • Willingness to work weekends and holidays.

Responsibilities

  • Assist Marina Operations Manager in developing and maintaining standard operating procedures for routine maintenance of all docks and facilities including mechanical, safety, and cosmetic upkeep and repairs.
  • Maintain marina facilities and grounds including all docks, parking lot, comfort areas, dry storage, fuel pump and fire pump stations to the highest standards
  • Maintain working components of areas including dock and land low voltage lighting, power pedestal maintenance, fuel pump and pump out components, and department assets such as fans, bikes, vehicles, and carts
  • Maintain UpKeep request status for repairs, and work with third party contractors to fulfill projects outside the scope of our abilities
  • Ensure SC Clean Marina standards are being up-held and followed; maintain MSDS sheets, attend SC Clean Marina training and Association of Marina Industries Clean & Resilient Marina courses
  • Understand and comply with government regulations pertaining to facility.
  • Work with Marina Operations Manager & Director on annual Capital Expenditure project planning and execution
  • Provide annual recommendations for high-quality preventive maintenance as well as rolling 5-7 year capital expense forecast.
  • Ensure Marina policies, rules and procedures are followed by all dock personnel, customers, customer guests, tenants, and visiting clientele.
  • Daily walk inspection and maintenance of docks, grounds, parking, buildings, equipment, and amenities to ensure cleanliness, safety, security, and compliance with all marina standards.
  • Manage Fuel Stations, maintain equipment, emergency spill kits and readiness.
  • Maintains the cleanliness of the entire marina area including rubbish pick-up from containers and general policing of marina areas.
  • Communicate with the team about potential repairs and enhancements to facilities.
  • Open the facility, including but not limited to setting up equipment for daily use and facility maintenance.
  • Close the facility, including but not limited to putting away all equipment and closing up facilities.
  • Create and maintain maintenance logs.
  • Assist in forklift operations as needed.
  • Assist in operations as requested by management.
  • Perform “Manager on Duty” role, alternating with Marina Operations Manager, in which they would be responsible for being the lead point of contact for decisions regarding inclement weather, member issues, or any other daily operational decisions.
  • Lead training (policies, operational and emergency procedures, safety, and equipment), and supervising of dock personnel.
