About The Position

Port Sanibel Marina currently has a position for marina boat forklift operator on Sanibel Islands. Boat Forklift Operators play a crucial role in ensuring the safe and efficient handling of boats, maintaining dry storage facilities, and supporting the cleaning and maintenance of boats. This position requires a strong commitment to safety, attention to detail, and excellent communication skills.

Requirements

  • Prior experience as a boat forklift operator or similar heavy equipment operation is preferred.
  • Possession of a valid forklift operator's license and a boater's safety certification.
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively with team members and customers.
  • Physical fitness and the ability to lift and carry heavy objects.
  • Attention to detail and a commitment to safety.
  • Willingness to work flexible hours, including weekends and holidays when necessary.

Responsibilities

  • Operate the boat forklift to safely and efficiently lift and move boats to and from the water, dry storage buildings, and boat racks.
  • Ensure the proper and secure placement of boats to prevent damage during handling and storage.
  • Perform boat launching and retrieval with precision and safety as per customer requests and marina policies.
  • Maintain the dry storage buildings in a clean and organized condition.
  • Assist in the stacking and positioning of boats in dry storage, optimizing space usage.
  • Conduct routine inspections of dry storage racks and facilities to identify and report any maintenance or repair needs.
  • Collaborate with boat cleaning and maintenance teams to ensure boats are washed and motors are flushed after each use.
  • Assist in the cleaning and basic maintenance tasks such as checking fluids, cleaning, and minor repairs when necessary.
  • Report any major maintenance or repair issues to the relevant department.
  • Adhere to all safety guidelines and protocols during boat handling and storage operations.
  • Stay informed about environmental and safety regulations, ensuring compliance with local, state, and federal laws.
  • Provide courteous and professional assistance to customers and boaters.
  • Assist customers with boat launching, retrieval, and answering inquiries regarding boat care and storage.
  • Conduct routine inspections and maintenance of the boat forklift and related equipment.
  • Report any equipment malfunctions or issues to the maintenance team promptly.
