About The Position

The Manufacturing Tooling Engineer is responsible for the design, sourcing, and run-off of production and development tooling for ATS products. This role requires extensive interaction with various departments including Application and Product Engineering, Quality Assurance, Manufacturing, Sales and Finance, Production Associates, and External Suppliers. The engineer will create, implement, and improve capable production processes to achieve quality, throughput, and cost targets, demonstrating a high degree of proficiency in CAD applications, particularly in assembly modeling and sheet metal. The position also involves leading the sourcing, build, and run-off of tooling, coordinating with internal and external resources, and creating manufacturing documentation.

Requirements

  • 0-3 years of experience in an OEM manufacturing environment.
  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or Manufacturing Technology/Industrial Technology.
  • Proficiency in CAD; experience in Creo or Draftsight is a plus.
  • Experience in heat exchanger products and processes is a plus.
  • Above average communication, organizational, and interface skills.
  • Flexibility to travel both domestically and internationally.
  • Self-starter with the ability to operate independently.
  • Detail-oriented and results-driven.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with quality quantification tools such as FMEA, Design of Experiments, and SPC.

Responsibilities

  • Create, implement, and improve production processes to achieve quality, throughput, and cost targets.
  • Demonstrate proficiency in CAD applications, particularly in assembly modeling and sheet metal.
  • Design tooling such as fixtures, assembly tooling, brake press, laser, and stamping tooling.
  • Lead the sourcing, build, and run-off of tooling.
  • Coordinate builds with internal machine and fabrication shop and external tool suppliers.
  • Lead Process FMEAs and participate in Design FMEAs with cross-functional teams.
  • Create and reconcile manufacturing documentation including bills of material, labor routings, and work instructions.
  • Utilize TS-16949 standard tools including process capability studies and control plans.
  • Create and reconcile production standards using work measurement techniques.
  • Analyze production costs to identify and implement improvement efforts.
  • Responsible for packaging, material flow, and plant layouts for new products.
  • Remain current in new manufacturing engineering technology and recommend new approaches.
  • Train others and communicate effectively with all levels of the organization.
  • Demonstrate successful Project Management techniques.
