About the position

The test technician will work in the lab running board and satellite level tests, debugging failures, and maintaining test stations. This role will be on the Manufacturing Production team, but will work cross functionally with Test Engineers, Electrical Engineers, and Mechanical Engineers to communicate and troubleshoot complex issues. This is a full-time, in-office position based in our San Francisco, CA 5 days per week.

Responsibilities

  • Assemble and test satellite avionics at board level and subassembly level
  • Organize and manage test stations and tools
  • Support engineering in improving functional testing of sub systems and components as well as system level testing
  • Build cables and harnesses for internal systems, electrical interconnects and overall systems
  • Troubleshoot test failures with test engineers
  • Own subassembly debug plan development
  • Develop and improve work instruction guides
  • Apply continuous improvement methodologies (Lean/Six Sigma)
  • Must be able to work independently and as part of a team

Requirements

  • 2+ years of hands-on technician experience
  • Ability to document test issues clearly and concisely in JIRA and/or Slack
  • Ability to precisely assemble and disassemble small and delicate units under test in test stations
  • Demonstrated ability to juggle multiple units under test simultaneously
  • Experience with electronics assembly procedures
  • Experience rolling out SOPs and standard work
  • Ability to debug mechanical and electrical systems
  • Excellent organization skills
  • Excellent analytical and problem solving skills
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to work well with people at all levels and teams

Nice-to-haves

  • Proven history of managing complex, interdisciplinary manufacturing processes
  • Ability to learn new engineering concepts quickly
  • Demonstrated ability to implement continuous improvement processes
  • Experience with command-line interface on Linux desktop
  • Ability to read and parse log files
  • Excellent PCB and harness soldering skills
