About The Position

Under limited supervision conducts evaluation, diagnostic, integration and final acceptance testing of airborne, commercial, surface ship and sub-surface vessel electronic equipment using established procedures. Troubleshoots problems to component level. Utilizes general testing equipment, which includes but is not limited to, oscilloscopes, digital multimeters, AC/DC clamp on ammeters, HiPot testers, LCR meters, Automated Test Equipment, and custom-made test fixtures and test consoles. This position requires that the individual be able to grow into a subject matter expert in how the test cells’ power and load distribution circuits are constructed and be able to use their experience and knowledge to learn and understand how these critical resources are interconnected and shared by the facility. Knowledge of electrical systems and equipment is key. Must be familiar with 480Vac, 3-phase equipment and distribution systems, with experience with DC voltages up to 1000V highly desirable. Strong mechanical aptitude is required.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent and a minimum of 6 years of prior relevant experience or 2 years post-Secondary/Associates Degree with a minimum of 2 years of prior related experience.
  • Ability to read, understand and accurately follow Engineering Orders, Quality procedures, Test procedures, and operating instructions.
  • Good working knowledge of basic analog and digital components and circuitry.
  • Ablilty to correctly analyze and interpret drawings, schematics, wiring diagrams, and specifications.
  • Ability to correctly document specific details of each test failure encountered, as well as document and update daily status of each assigned repair.
  • Must be adept at utilization and operation of general electronic test equipment.

  • Experience with water cooling systems, practical and theoretical, are highly desirable.
  • Strong candidates will have mechanical and hands-on experience with equipment troubleshooting, repairs, and will be well versed in electrical safety in theory and in practice and must be experienced in Lock-Out/Tag-Out (LOTO) processes.
  • The position requires the ability to work outdoors in all but inclement weather as part of the maintenance of the facility’s equipment.

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for performing functions associated with supporting manufacturing and engineering operations, primarily performing maintenance, rework, troubleshooting complex Printed Wiring Assemblies, Subassemblies, Modules and Systems using Functional Test Procedures, Individual Acceptance Test Procedures, Technical Repair Standard Procedures, Quality Test Instructions, Return Acceptance Test Procedures, and Factory Acceptance Test Procedures, and testing related to the equipment and test cell infrastructure used for production and engineering testing, but also supporting setting up of equipment for production and/or engineering tests within the facility.
  • Performs Factory Acceptance Test of completed systems using Quality Test Instructions and Factory Acceptance Test Procedures.
  • Identifies non-conforming material and initiates Material Discrepancy Reports, FR/FF reports in TipQA, and Break-Out Shop Orders, as applicable.
  • Programs and verifies programmable integrated circuits using approved procedures and Quality Assurance software.
  • Identifies and initiates changes to test documents using a Quality Test Change Request form.
  • Documents information for failure analysis and reporting using the Failure Reporting and Corrective Action System and Failure Analysis Reports.
