Job Title: Manufacturing Test Engineer III Function: Manufacturing, Test Product and Process Development Reports to (Title): Sr Mgr, Manufacturing Engineering Direct Reports: No JOB SUMMARY: The Manufacturing Test Engineer III is responsible for reviewing designs for Testability and create test process flow from SMT through ICT for new F5 PCA designs. Create full process map and test coverage analysis of PCAs. Will interact with the CAD team, Systems engineers, contract manufacturers, and suppliers to optimize designs; provide test documentation and requirements. Will provide technical support to the supply base (contract manufacturers, ICT fabricators) for technical issues. There will also be various sustaining engineering related projects as required. Other duties will be assigned based on skill level in this role. PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES: As a member of the Manufacturing Engineering team, Manufacturing Test Engineer III will perform engineering activities for a family of products and commodities from Product Development through End-of-Life. Closely work with cross functional teams, including Product Development, sourcing & supply chain, Global Services Logistics, and manufacturing quality team to meet F5’s Strategy. Review designs for DFx, from concept to final release – focusing on Testability and Test process best practices Assist in design testability requirements and implementation at F5, CM, and vendors. Track DFM and Test issues to ensure that recommended changes get implemented. Monitor product yields to see if any Test escapes happen and prevent them in the future. Track Test issues to categorize the types of findings and ensure that we do not see continuously repeated issues. Work with Contract manufacturers (CM) and fab partners to optimize new designs May be on-site at suppliers for proto builds, analyzing the processes and subsequent yield data. Work with suppliers and engineering to implement design enhancements for test coverage. Provide postmortem feedback on the product development life cycle. Work on documenting best known practices. Assist in the selection process as required. Write deviations as required for modified assembly or fab requirements. Review BOM structures, recommend any enhancements. Requirements

  • Minimum of 4 years’ experience in high tech manufacturing; related to PCA build process, testing and ICT development and testing.
  • Knowledge of Design for Manufacturability and Testability, using software and CAD tools
  • Knowledge of PCB, PCBA, Electrical Components fabrication and assembly and test processes.
  • BS degree or equivalent with a Electrical/Manufacturing/Test engineering background.
  • The candidate needs to have the desire and ability to take ownership and responsibility with some coaching.
  • The candidate should be familiar with basic reliability concepts and be skilled in using analytical tools to provide various metrics, to predict trends, and to provide quality feedback to CM.
  • Experience with BOM and ECO processes
  • Good negotiation and conflict management skills.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and meet quality, accuracy, and timeliness objectives.
  • Ability to write technical reports for both internal and external stakeholders.
  • Good verbal and written communication skills using Microsoft Office tools (Word, Excel, Project, Power Point, Teams)
  • Familiarity with IPC or equivalent quality standards for fab and assembly
  • Well-developed teamwork and collaboration skills and ability to communicate clearly and professionally.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access) is required.

Nice To Haves

  • Previous experience in working with a Contract Manufacturer is desired.
