The Manufacturing Technology Technician will support proof-of-concept development and prototype testing for automation and new technology introduction solutions, particularly in areas that are challenging to automate. This role involves maintaining the lab environment, assisting engineers in experiments, building and testing prototypes, troubleshooting electro-mechanical systems, and supporting the implementation and troubleshooting of internally and externally developed automation systems on the shop floor.

  • Maintain and calibrate lab equipment to ensure readiness for prototyping and testing activities.
  • Collaborate with engineers on automation prototype design concepts.
  • Select and purchase materials and components required for prototype development.
  • Assemble, wire, solder, and test prototypes and proof-of-concepts.
  • Support documentation and data collection during trials.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve electrical and mechanical failures down to the component level.
  • Utilize instruments such as multimeters, oscilloscopes, and spectrum analyzers for diagnostics.
  • Read and interpret blueprints, wiring diagrams, assembly prints, electronic schematics, and parts lists.
  • Participate in shop floor implementation and maintenance of homegrown and vendor-supplied automation systems.
  • Ensure safety compliance, organization, and housekeeping in lab environments.
  • Work independently while collaborating closely with engineering teams.
  • AA degree or equivalent from 2-yr college or technical school.
  • 7+ yrs experience as an electronic technician.
  • Advanced knowledge of electro-mechanical components and general knowledge of digital/analog circuit theory.
  • Hands-on experience with mechanical assembly, wiring, controls, and basic programming.
  • Ability to design and program control systems.
  • Proficient in troubleshooting and solving electrical/mechanical failures to component level.
  • Strong attention to detail and proactive problem-solving attitude.
  • Comfortable working under supervision and independently.
