About The Position

The Manufacturing Technician at Chicago Tube and Iron Company plays a crucial role in the operations of the Fabrication Division, focusing on key manufacturing processes such as laser cutting, bending, welding, tapping, and CNC lathe. This position involves reviewing job packets, creating inspection plans, managing inventory, and responding to customer service inquiries, ensuring efficient manufacturing operations and high-quality standards.

Requirements

  • High School diploma or GED required; College degree preferred.
  • Working knowledge and experience with an MRP/ERP system is a plus.
  • Experience with CAD/SolidWorks is preferred.
  • Ability to interpret drawings.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office, including Word and Excel.
  • Ability to make decisions and problem-solve manufacturing issues.
  • A minimum of 3-5 years of manufacturing experience preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Review job packets.
  • Create in-process inspection plans.
  • Enter transfer orders to return excess material to the branches.
  • Respond to customer service emails regarding ship dates and inventory checks.
  • Enter buy backs for quality discrepancies.
  • Adjust inventory count on the floor according to part numbers.
  • Investigate order discrepancies.
  • Serve as a backup for scheduling shipments/trucks.
  • Serve as a backup for creating/modifying routers.
  • Handle vendor returns.
  • Print full size layouts.
  • Monitor movement and close transactions of raw and finished goods transfers.
