About The Position

Leidos is seeking an experienced Manufacturing Technician to support the Cargo Mission Contract (CMC). This role involves hands-on manufacturing and logistics support to ensure the safe fabrication, handling, packaging, and transport of flight and mockup hardware for spaceflight programs. The selected candidate will play a critical role in supporting hardware destined for the International Space Station (ISS) and other spaceflight missions. The Technician will provide technical manufacturing and logistics support to fabricate protective foam assemblies and mockups and manage shipping and receiving operations. This role requires a detail-oriented individual capable of balancing fabrication tasks with inventory and shipment management responsibilities.

Requirements

  • High School diploma or equivalent, with at least 3 years' experience in manufacturing, design, and fabrication.
  • Experience in the use of powered and unpowered tools to fabricate end items.
  • Proficient in reading and implementing requirements from engineering drawings, work orders, and related documentation.
  • Familiarity with the engineering drawing process and tool calibration.
  • General knowledge of mathematics and computer science.
  • Experience in soft goods design, fabrication, and repair.
  • Must be able to obtain a Public Trust Security Clearance; due to contract requirements, U.S. Citizenship or U.S. Permanent residency is required.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in cable and electronic component fabrication utilizing recognized workmanship standards, including soldering, harness and cable assembly, staking, and conformal coating.
  • Electronics troubleshooting expertise.
  • Working knowledge of inventory management systems, such as Maximo.
  • Experience in running and programming additive manufacturing systems.
  • Proficiency in Creo and Simplify3D software for design and manufacturing applications.
  • Experience in foam or plastics fabrication.
  • Forklift certification or experience operating forklifts.

Responsibilities

  • Fabricate and assemble protective foam components to safeguard hardware during transport and handling, ensuring compliance with engineering drawings and manufacturing standards.
  • Provide hands-on support for prototyping, 3D printing, soft goods design and repair, electronic and mechanical component fabrication, and large-scale mockups or equipment builds.
  • Review shipment integrity and accuracy to ensure proper receipt of equipment, materials, and goods.
  • Package and label outgoing shipments in compliance with ISO, DOT, and IATA regulations, accounting for hazardous materials as required.
  • Verify the accuracy of shipment documentation and packaging to meet requirements for the protection of space hardware.
  • Load and unload shipments from transportation vehicles, ensuring proper handling and storage of materials.
  • Complete inventory transactions for the receipt, transfer, and tracking of shipments.
  • Support multiple projects simultaneously, prioritize tasks effectively, and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
