About The Position

We are currently seeking an entry level Manufacturing Technician A to support hardware preparation and post-test activities in out hot fire facility.  Support will include assembly of test setups for testing, hardware decontamination, and general facility tasks. In our Redmond, WA, site (Seattle area), we fabricate, assemble, and test chemical and electric thrusters, as well as small scale propulsion systems.  Our products enable a wide variety of missions from the exploration of our solar system to global communication and the surveillance of severe weather and wild fires. L3Harris announced on January 5th, that AE Industrial Partners (“AE Industrial”) has agreed to acquire a controlling interest in L3Harris’ Space Propulsion and Power Systems business. This position has been identified as one that will transition to the new standalone company upon closing of the transaction. Until that time, L3Harris will continue its hiring activity within this business.

Requirements

  • Requires minimal job knowledge/skills.
  • Requires a High School Diploma or equivalent with 0 to 3 years of prior related experience.

Nice To Haves

  • Familiarity with 5S and lean procedures.
  • Ability and willingness to work other shifts and overtime as necessary.
  • Knowledge of Laminar Flow environments and FOE/FOD controls a plus.
  • Knowledge of mechanical assembly and test of electromechanical components.

Responsibilities

  • Mechanical assembly and disassembly of test hardware on rocket engines to support hot fire testing.
  • Handle precision clean parts within a laminar flow environment.
  • Complete decontamination of rockets post-hot fire testing.
  • Perform diversified, but semi-repetitive operations following standardized methods and procedures under changing conditions.
  • Coordinate with maintenance, supervision and/or engineers in the set-up and calibration of equipment.
  • Perform troubleshooting of mechanical assemblies, company manufactured tooling and pressure testing.
  • Use and operate various computer systems and applicable software (such as retrieving work instructions or manufacturing module in ERP system).
  • Read and interpret product drawings, process specifications, and department procedures.
  • Apply general rules to specific problems to come up with logical answers.
  • Establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with the working team and those contacted in the course of work
  • Effectively communicate to supervision/lead person, maintenance, engineering or other employees of the organization.
  • Work with management, supervision or lead personnel to prioritize work and meet critical deadlines.
  • Provide rapid support while following proper housekeeping and safety procedures.
  • Other duties as assigned to support the overall operation of the test lab.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. Security Clearance at the appropriate level. Must be able to satisfy federal government requirements for access to government information.
