About The Position

The Manufacturing Team Leader is responsible for overseeing the day-to-day operations of the production team, ensuring that manufacturing processes run efficiently, safely, and according to company standards. This role involves overseeing a team of operators, providing guidance, support, and training while ensuring high-quality output, adherence to safety protocols, and meeting production goals. The Manufacturing Team Leader works closely with other departments to optimize workflows and ensure the timely delivery of products.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent required
  • 3+ years of experience in a manufacturing environment, some experience on leading teams desired.
  • Leadership and team management skills.
  • Communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Problem-solving abilities and focus on continuous improvement.
  • Knowledge of safety protocols and quality standards.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, technical drawings, and work instructions.
  • Organizational and time management skills.
  • Must be able to work in a manufacturing environment, which may involve exposure to noise, machinery, and varying temperatures.
  • May require standing for extended periods and lifting up to [X] lbs.
  • Flexible working hours or shift work may be required, depending on the production schedule.

Responsibilities

  • Team Oversight & Leadership: Lead and motivate a team of production workers to achieve performance goals, safety standards, and quality metrics.
  • Provide daily direction and support to the team, ensuring effective communication and resolving any conflicts or challenges that arise.
  • Monitor team performance and provide constructive feedback, including conducting regular performance reviews.
  • Production: Ensure that production goals, including quantity, quality, and deadlines, are met.
  • Coordinate production schedules and ensure that resources, materials, and equipment are available to meet production targets.
  • Monitor and report on key performance indicators (KPIs) such as productivity, downtime, and defect rates.
  • Quality Control & Safety: Enforce adherence to quality standards and ensure that all products are manufactured in compliance with industry regulations and company specifications.
  • Implement and promote safety programs and initiatives, ensuring compliance with OSHA and other safety regulations.
  • Conduct regular safety inspections and address any unsafe working conditions.
  • Process Improvement: Identify and suggest improvements in manufacturing processes, production methods, and workflows to increase efficiency and reduce waste.
  • Understand what an improvement is related to KPI’s, ergonomics and /or Safety Collaborate with engineering or maintenance teams to resolve operational issues or equipment malfunctions.
  • Assist in the development and implementation of continuous improvement initiatives (Lean Manufacturing/7 wastes or SPC and basic Six Sigma)
  • Training & Development: Onboard new team members and provide ongoing training on equipment, safety protocols, and best manufacturing practices.
  • Foster a culture of learning and development by encouraging skill-building and cross-training among team members.
  • Identify skill gaps and recommend training or development opportunities to enhance team performance.
  • Reporting & Documentation: Maintain accurate production records, including work orders, inventory logs, and quality checks.
  • Report production data and performance metrics to the Production Manager or other senior management.
  • Document and investigate any quality or safety incidents and take corrective actions as needed.
  • Collaboration: Work closely with other departments (e.g., Maintenance, Engineering, Quality Assurance) to address any production challenges and optimize overall performance.
  • Participate in regular team meetings to review production goals, challenges, and solutions.
  • Foster positive relationships with other teams, supporting a collaborative and cohesive work environment.
