A Day in the Life Second Shift Hours: Monday to Friday, 2:30 PM to 10:30 PM We’re looking for a hands-on Manufacturing Supervisor to lead our second shift team at our Grand Rapids, MI facility in a dynamic medical device production environment. In this role, you’ll be responsible for guiding and supporting your team, ensuring smooth operations throughout the shift, and maintaining high standards for safety, quality, and productivity. You’ll play a key part in keeping production on track, encouraging teamwork, and helping team members grow in their roles. Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent with 1+ years of experience
  • Strong leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills with a passion for coaching others
  • Experience with lean manufacturing, safety programs, and structured problem ‑ solving methodologies
  • For Baccalaureate degrees earned outside of the United States, a degree that satisfies the requirements of 8 C.F.R. § 214.2(h)(4)(iii)(A) is required.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in medical device manufacturing or other highly regulated industries
  • Demonstrated success in talent development, succession planning, and building bench strength
  • Proficiency in manufacturing systems, including SAP and Microsoft Office applications
  • Bilingual capabilities a plus
  • Associate or bachelor's degree in manufacturing, engineering, business, or related field
  • 3+ years of leadership experience in a manufacturing environment

Responsibilities

  • Provide strategic leadership to multiple production teams, ensuring alignment with organizational goals for safety, quality, delivery, and cost.
  • Build a high ‑ performance culture grounded in accountability, employee engagement, and continuous improvement.
  • Conduct structured coaching sessions, performance evaluations, and talent assessments to support both immediate performance needs and long ‑ term career development.
  • Identify competency gaps across the operation and drive targeted training, cross ‑ training, and succession planning initiatives.
  • Champion employee recognition programs to reinforce positive behaviors and maintain strong morale and retention.
  • Promote a proactive, problem ‑ solving mindset within the workforce by facilitating team participation in improvement activities.
  • Lead cross ‑ functional lean manufacturing initiatives, including Kaizen events, 5S, and root cause analysis (RCA).
  • Analyze operational data to identify improvement opportunities and drive sustained corrective and preventive actions.
  • Implement refined processes, tools, and standards that increase throughput, reduce waste, and enhance overall operational reliability.
  • Drive adoption and maturity of MPS (Medtronic Performance System) across assigned areas, ensuring consistent application of lean principles and visual management.
  • Oversee daily production execution to meet or exceed safety, quality, delivery, and cost targets.
  • Monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) and proactively adjust staffing, workflow, and resource allocation to maintain optimal performance.
  • Partner with maintenance, engineering, quality, supply chain, and other functions to resolve issues, eliminate bottlenecks, and improve equipment uptime.
  • Ensure strict adherence to all safety procedures, regulatory requirements, and company policies.
