The position involves supervising a shift of workers who are responsible for building subassemblies and units. The supervisor will communicate with lead workers, planners, and other relevant personnel to review the status of jobs and set priorities. The role requires facilitating a smooth transition of work and products between shifts and among different work groups. Additionally, the supervisor will review product prints, material lists, and bills of materials to determine production methods and identify needs and requirements. The supervisor must anticipate, follow up, and resolve problems related to material shortages and equipment repairs. Estimating personnel needs and assigning work to meet objectives is also a key responsibility. The supervisor will need to read and follow blueprint specifications and possess knowledge of welding consumables, tools, and equipment. Furthermore, managing staffing, training, and performance evaluations to develop and improve staff is an essential part of the role.
