JOB SUMMARY: Supervises departmental associates and complies with all safety, quality, production, waste, absenteeism, turnover, and housekeeping standards necessary to meet the departmental requirements. Interacts directly with other supervisors and Turf Department Manager in the accomplishment of support, scheduling, and through-put improvement objectives in the manufacturing process. Responsible for all necessary forecasting, planning, assigning, reporting, and follow-up for all departmental daily functions. Serves in the position of incident commander on the Plant Emergency Organization Response Team. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS/DUTIES: 1. Reports directly to the Turf Department Manager. 2. Directs and monitors all activity of the Turf personnel to ensure proper production and quality levels are attained. 3. Responsible for implementing procedures located in AODOCs. 4. Conducts shift quality and production meetings. 5. Implements Plant 70 Safety, Quality, & Environmental Policy. 6. As requested, serves on subcommittees of the Quality Improvement Team (QIT). 7. Directly accountable and responsible for the actions and safety of all Production personnel. 8. Initiates and promotes quality and safety to all Production personnel. 9. Holds weekly and monthly safety meetings. 10. Responsible for making sure shift Kronos timecards are accurate each week. 11. Issues corrective discipline, when necessary, to insure conformance of all individuals to company policies. 12. Insures excellent housekeeping in all areas of responsibility. 13. Tours and inspects all areas of the departments during each shift. 14. Attends all company seminars relevant to the job duties of the Manufacturing Supervisor. 15. Promotes and participates in all department and plant related activities such as special events, celebrations, and other activities to boost morale of Production personnel. 16. Takes Corrective action on shift audit findings. 17. Provides shift schedules to insure proper allocation of people, machinery, and product flow. 18. Complies with procedures found in Shaw Management System (SMS). 19. Responsible for on-the-job training for all newly hired, transferred, or promoted associates assigned to Production. 20. Monitors production processes and makes revisions to training materials, both safety and procedural, as necessary. 21. Ensures trainee files are completed in a timely manner. When training is complete the Manufacturing Supervisor should forward files to the Training Department. 22. Responsible for health and safety of all associates. 23. Must be willing to walk, stand, bend, stoop, squat, lift, and reach as required. 24. Must be able to lift 50 pounds as required during an eight (8) or twelve (12) hour shift as required. 25. Must be able to ascend and descend stairs as required. 26. Must be available for call-in duty as needed. 27. Must be willing to work holidays, weekends, and overtime as required. 28. Complies with all plant and department safety rules and regulations. 29. Must attend a one (1) day orientation training session familiarizing the new associates with basic plant procedures. 30. Must be responsible for safety equipment issued including safety glasses and earplugs. 31. Must be responsible for materials necessary to perform assigned tasks including standard office supplies. 32. Must always maintain a safe and clean work area. 33. Must report any unsafe conditions to supervision. 34. Must report all accidents no matter how slight to supervision immediately. 35. Must wear personal protective equipment as required while on the job. 36. Complies with procedures found in Shaw Management System (SMS).
